What Is The Value Add Of Chemex Coffee Maker?

Thursday 27 November 2008

Nobody would blame you if you cannot fathom why the chemex coffee maker has any value add? To start with, this is such a normal looking funnel glass apparatus that it looks more like a science class equipment!

So, why are we even talking about the chemex coffee maker if it is such a simple set up, in fact, this is an equipment that does not even uses electricity, so how easy can it be when it comes to using?

The fact is not using electricity is already a value add of this brewer! Now if you think about it, which is more expensive -gas or electricity. You would probably agree that it is the latter right? Well, you can choose to brew your hot water using gas.

I am sure for most of us, it would be the former, so within a few paragraphs, I have already highlighted the first value add of the chemex coffee maker -cost savings.

You might be think how much one can save with this little bit. But if you compound it over the months and years ahead, I believe this savings should be enough to bring you and your love ones for a short trip overseas.

Another of its value add which you might find it difficult to believe is the ease of use. Being a manual coffee maker, I know many of us would find it difficult that it is easier to use than the automatic coffee maker, you decide for yourself if this operation is difficult.

All you need to do after setting up the chemex coffee maker, and by setting up, I meant putting in place the filter paper, is to add in the coffee blend of your choice and hot water.

From there, you just need to wait for the coffee to drip into he funnel below and then enjoy your cuppa. The brewing is as simple as that. You might be thinking about the quality of coffee brewed using this process.

On this, I would posed the question back to you -what is the difference? Both are drip filter and both got their coffee by this dripping method, so the taste is the same. In fact, I think that because there are lesser machinery parts to taint the coffee taste, coffee from chemex actually taste better!

One look at this, and perhaps many of you can see another value add, which is the ease of maintenance. There are some other brewers that can boast of the ease of use, for example single serve coffee maker.

But, I can assure you that when it comes to cleaning, no other coffee makers can rival the chemex in terms of the ease of cleaning. This is one brewer that is so easy to clean, that I think it should have sold off some units simply by this virtue alone!

There you have it, my take on this simple manual coffee maker. I see its value in the simple brewing process, the simpler cleaning process, the low initial cost, and low operating cost.

Lazy Folks Loves The Chemex Coffee Maker

Monday 24 November 2008

Not many people would believe you using the term easy on chemex coffee maker, for one, they are manual coffee maker, and how can this manual brewer is easy to use?

Well, ironically, chemex coffee maker although being a manual appliance, is very much easier to use than your espresso maker or drip filter coffee machines. The problems with these is the number of steps that you would need to follow in order to get the perfect coffee.

Take the espresso maker as an example, one wonders how many steps one must take before the finished product -espresso is brewed. And of course, any wrong steps would meant that the espresso would be ruined.

There is no such worry about chemex coffee maker. All you need to do is to set up the coffee brewer. Which actually meant inserting the filter paper and getting the brewer ready.

After that, all you need to do is to scoop in your favorite coffee blend, add in the hot water and then wait for your coffee drip into the funnel below and after a while, you get to enjoy this coffee.

Some people have questions about the quality on this coffee. Personally, I have tried and found the coffee to be good if not better than those from the drip filter coffee machines. Here is one thing you might like to take note, the lesser parts in a brewer also meant that they are less likely to be tainted by these parts with residual oil or stuff.

So, quality wise, the chemex coffee maker is on par, if not better than the machines. There is however, another value add of this brewer that I know no other brewer would be able to match.

And that is the washing portion. This cleaning and maintaining of coffee maker is an important task for brewing your own coffee, if you do not do it well, you might end out with lousy coffee.

No other coffee brewer is easier to wash than the chemex coffee maker, all you need to do is to rinse the brewer, flush it, dry it then keep it. I believe that the chemex is still selling well today despite competition from other sophisticated coffee machines, this ease of maintenace plays a big role in retaining its market share.

So, why do I say that this is the coffee maker for the lazy people? Well, lazy folks like me want everything easy yet they also do not want the cost to be too high. And the solution here would be chemex coffee maker.

Imagine, a brewer that is less than $30, brew quality coffee that is possibly better than the drip filter machines, is very easy to use and most important is not even a hassle to clean.

With such a package, even those that are very lazy and cannot bother to brew any coffee, would be affected by the ease of use, the ease of maintenance and of course, the relatively low pricing.

They Say Krupps Coffee Maker Is Good

Sunday 23 November 2008

No, I do not think krupps coffee maker is good. And let me tell you that I would be right because this brand does not even exist!

You must be thinking that this would no be possible as you have seen krupps coffee maker on some online advertisement before right? Think again, the brand of coffee machines that you have seen might not be krupps.

This is the common mis-spelled brand that many consumers have for this brand of coffee makers. The real brand is spelled Krups. So, I am not wrong by saying that you have not seen Krupps right?

Now that we know the real spelling is krups coffee maker, what is the best value add of this machine? Before moving on to that, do you know why so many people out there mis-spelled this brand of coffee machine?

This is a situation of peole knowing about the brand even without seeing the brands. Think about it, if you have seen the machine at work and its accompanying promotional materials, you would not be spelling is as krupps coffee maker right?

That goes to show how attractive the value add of this coffee machine is, that people would be looking for it even without seeing the real machine at work! And can you guess what is the main reason people would be so actively looking for this machine?

Well, what can be a bigger lure than a very reasonable pricing. At less than $50 for a brewer, this krups is considered a steal for anyone that has done some coffee brewing before.

Why do I say that? Anyone that has used coffee machines before, would know that programmable features are not cheap. It ranges anything above $80 and there you have a coffee machine that can do it for $40, would you not be tempted?

So, when people are talking about coffee machines, and consumers heard about the low pricing of this krups, and not knowing how to spell it, they would go around looking for a krupps coffee maker.

The key value add of this brewer is of course its low pricing. And as discussed earlier, a programmable feature at this pricing, make the whole package even more attractive. But that is not all to this coffee brewer. What I think would also further add value to your coffee experience would be the cascading brew head.

The brew head is the thing that would ensure that you have good coffee by saturating your coffee ground properly. But that is not all, there are numerous other value add from this brewer that is worth mentioning.

In fact, this company is the only one that would act on consumers feedback. For anyone that have used a coffee machine and top up water, you would know how painful it is to read the small indicator markings.

Well, krups have make the indicator large enough for anyone to read it. And this is the dedication to details that you would get from this company, would you not be assured?

This is definitely not the most sophisticated coffee brewer, but for the money that you are going to put into this machine, I think the krups or krupps coffee maker as you know is a great value for money!

Do You Know The Special Thing About Krups Coffee Maker?

Saturday 22 November 2008

There are some buzz going around recently about krupps coffee maker. There are some articles and feedback about this coffee machine, and it it pretty interesting. This prompt people to ask me if there is anything special about this brewer.

While most of the articles reported positive stuff about this machine, the feedback about krupps coffee maker is quite surprising. For a start, they are saying that this is a machine that cannot be found!

Why is that so? Why would you not be able to find the krupps coffee maker? Well, the main reason is the spelling or mis-spelling of this brewer. I do not know if you would consider this thing special but the story behind it might value add to you.

Here is how it goes, if you are looking for a coffee brewer, price is definitely something that you would look for right? This situation about how many consumers looking for this coffee machine and getting the wrong spelling would tell you how attractive this machine is right?

Now, think about it, if they are so interested to find this brewer, how did they got the spelling wrong? Well, this is mainly because they have never seen the real thing before. SO, when they hear people talking about it, they spelled it krupps coffee maker.

The brand with the correct spelling is krups coffee maker. Then again, knowing how to spell this coffee maker does not really add value to us right? There is however a reason why people are spelling it wrongly and that is the element that would value add to us!

Personally, I think there is only one reason that would drive consumers to be actively looking for this coffee maker even without looking at this machine and that is the price. And the fact is, this krups brewer is very reasonably priced.

Even if I would to share with you that krups or as many of them call it krups coffee maker retails at less than $50, there is nothing special about it right?

But, what if I would to tell you that at this pricing, you would get a full feature drip filter coffee machine that comes with a programmable function, now this is a function that you would not imagine getting for this pricing right?

I think sometimes reading the forum and noticing strange things like this might add value to us. This is a simple case of a brand that is being mis-spelled. But, the story behind it is the good pricing that has driven many consumers looking for it, thus leading to the mis-spelling.

And yes, the mis-spelling is the special thing that has been buzzing around for this coffee maker. And it is also through this mis-spelling of krupps coffee maker instead of krups coffee maker that we know that this is a very sought after coffee machine.

This brewer has more features that what is highlighted and it is the also this reason that so many people are looking for it despite not seeing it before. In fact, there are some sites that are selling this brewer at $40, so if you are looking for a coffee machine, you can really consider this machine…

Do You Want To Know This Coffee Maker Secret?

Friday 21 November 2008

This is the coffee maker that has caused quite a stir in the market by not only selling more units, it is also taking customers away from other brands. This is of course the cuisinart brew central coffee maker that we are talking about.

The situation is such that consumers are giving up their fully workable coffee makers, be it Bunn, Mr Coffee or even senseo and purchasing the cuisinart brew central coffee maker. And there wasn’t any powerful advertisement or promotion going on that luring these consumers to make the switch.

The consumers are adopting the cuisinart coffee makers simply because they found it to be better and suit their lifestyle better. I took an investigation and found out that there are three elements that prompt consumers to give up their current coffee makers for a cuisinart.

The first factor is the taste, if you do a split test, you would noticed the contrast in taste between a cuisinart brew central coffee maker and the rest of the coffee machines. While the rest of the coffee brewers are not consistent in the taste of the coffee brewed, cuisinart brewer give a smooth and consistent great tasting coffee.

There might be a few reasons for this great tasting coffee, but the main element that causes this difference is the charcoal filter that comes with this coffee brewer.

The water used for brewing coffee would determines the quality of the coffee, and soft water should be chosen as it is without minerals and has the ability to brew better coffee.

Tap water or hard water as they call it is the most common form of water used to brew coffee. But using this coffee would not only spoil the taste of the coffee, it would in the long run break down your coffee makers.

And cuisinart brew central coffee maker charcoal filter solves that problem by filtering away all the minerals leaving behind the soft water that makes great coffee.

The second element is the light that prompt consumers to clean their coffee makers, this make a difference in the quality of the coffee being brewed. And because people listen to feedback and tried coffee using their friends cuisinart brew central coffee maker first and it is well maintained, the reviews are naturally good.

The light that prompt consumers to clean their coffee makers also ensure that the machine is in tip top condition, a criteria that leads to great coffee.

The last factor that drive people to purchase the cuisinart brew central coffee maker is the pricing. At less than $50, this is a price that people know that even if anything goes wrong, this is the pricing that they can afford to lose.

Of course, if you put it in another way, $50 is really cheap for a fully programmable coffee maker and I dare say that it is difficult to find another such models in the current coffee brewers market.

While there are no technologically break through in the secrets, these 3 elements are the reasons to explain for the exodus of consumers from other brands to cuisinart.

The Story Of The Fresh Lobster Trade

Tuesday 18 November 2008

Close your eyes, and picture that large, mouth-watering buy lobsters waiting on your plate for you to crack open and enjoy. You’d be hard-pressed to think of anything that sounds better. However, don’t rush out for a live lobster dinner just yet. Wouldn’t it be fun to learn a little bit about the critter you’re craving before you indulge?

We all know that the original citizens of America were the Native Americans. There were so few of them back in those days and so many lobsters just lying around in tide pools, that they could have all they wanted. If the truth were told, though, they didn’t want any to eat. To them, a lobster was just fertilizer for their fields. They also used the meat as fish bait.

The early European settlers which graced our shores didn’t eat lobster overnight, either. They’d pick them up by hand to use as fertilizer or to feed to the lowest creatures of their society, slaves, indentured servants, children, and the poor. After years of this practice, indentured servants begin to protest the constant lobster diet. In fact, they went so far as having it written into their contracts that they would never have to eat lobster more than three times a week.

Since lobsters could be harvested so easily by hand from the tide pools, there was no need for people to devise more technological methods of trapping them. It wasn’t until the 1850s that lobster traps first appeared. The lobsters these early harvesters caught weren’t marketed live, either. They were sent to canneries. The early canning methods pretty well eliminated the flavor of the meat leaving the resulting product pretty bland and tasteless. Naturally it failed to catch on with consumers.

With the advent of modern transportation, live lobsters became the delicacies they continue to be today. As it became possible to ship live lobsters to America’s largest cities, they caught on with the well-to-do, and the rest is just history.

Have you ever felt a little funny about watching a lobster resting quietly in a fish tank only minutes before he appears on your plate? Don’t worry. That’s been a common feeling since people began eating lobsters years ago. But if you want to experience lobster in its freshest form, this is the way it has to be done.

My great-grandmother lived most of the way through the 1960s. People around her were eating lobsters and other seafood, but she refused to even consider the possibility. It’s not that she was a picky eater, because she had been raised to eat everything that was put on her plate. It’s just that her sensibilities had been honed during America’s Victorian era when ladies would never even think about something as ghastly as tossing a live lobster into boiling water. Pass me the smelling salts, please!

It’s hard to believe that our ancestors didn’t like the way maine lobster tasted. Just think of all the good food that was wasted as fertilizer. Their palates were just very different from ours. As our society developed more sophisticated tastes, lobsters finally became the delicacies they were always destined to be.

Chicken Bon Vivant

Monday 17 November 2008

By Jim Nettleton

Here’s another tasty recipe from my private collection. Enjoy!

Normal 0

INGREDIENTS

4 chicken leg quarters, skinned

2 large cans chicken broth

1 small package saffron yellow rice

1 small package Velveeta cheese

1/2 pint heavy cream

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1 tsp. ground rosemary

1 tsp. poultry seasoning, preferably Chef Paul Prudhomme’s Poultry Magic

2 tsp. dried minced onions

1/2 tsp. black pepper

1 tblsp. flour or cornstarch

In a large pot place chicken broth, garlic, rosemary, poultry seasoning, minced onions and pepper. Add chicken. Cover pot and bring to boil. Reduce heat to active simmer. Cook for 40 minutes or until tender.

Meanwhile, prepare rice according to package instructions.

Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees.

When chicken is done, remove from pot and save pot contents. Place chicken in lightly buttered baking dish and put in oven to crisp for about 15 minutes – keep an eye on it to avoid overdoing the crisping.

While chicken is baking, strain liquid in the pot, then return the liquid to the pot. Pour off all but about 3 cups of the remaining liquid.

Cut Velveeta into small pieces to aid melting. Add cheese to the pot. Add the heavy cream. Over medium heat, stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth. Mix flour or cornstarch with a small amount of warm water to smooth, then add a little at a time to thicken the sauce, while stirring constantly. Mixture should be thick enough to pour slowly.

Place a bed of rice on each plate, place 2 leg quarters on top of the rice and smother thoroughly with the sauce.

Serves 2.

Bloomfield Coffee Maker, Never Seen It Before!

Monday 17 November 2008

It is okay not to have heard of bloomfield coffee maker as it is not as well known as Bunn, braun or Mr coffee. But would you believe me if I say that you probably have drunk coffee from it before!

The thing about bloomfield coffee maker is it is not as established in the domestic home use market as it is in the business to business market. The fact is, it is actually quite big in the business to business market.

How big it is? Well, we know that all Mac Donald outlets serve hot coffee and they uses a drip filter coffee machine, bloomfield supply to more than 70% of these outlets. Other than Starbucks, no other organization has such wide network of outlets and bloomfield is serving 70% of it.

So, now you can see the size of bloomfield business. Bloomfield also have it own machines that are targeted at the consumers, however, its effort and size is not as established as its commercial business. And I am not lying when I say that you probably have drunk coffee brew from bloomfield before right?

But, would you purchase a bloomfield as compared to a bodum or a Salton Coffee maker? Why am using such a comparison? If I would to use a Bunn or Mr coffee, it is likely that you would be getting the Bunn or Mr coffee.

These companies are brands that have high equity, that is they are very well like by the consumers. And not only that, their technolgy is so much better than bloomfield. So, I am using bodum and salton as a comparison, both of them not as “branded” as the Bunn or Mr coffee.

All three companies are established but not very well known, so if you are buying a machine, which one would you go for? If you chose the bodum coffee maker, then you are someone that does not want to dabble with technology, you are probably going to do a French Press.

Of course, French Press is not meant for everyone, and folks that are not into the low technology stuff, would not appreciate it and so would likely go for the bloomfield coffee maker. Bloomfield in terms of technology can be consider mid range as it comes with all the features of a basic coffee machine.

The drip filter features, the thermal carafe and a large capacity. But, if you are going to go truly advanced technology then salton coffee maker would be your choice.

Imagine a coffee machine that allows you to program your brewing in your office using just an internet connection and a browser. It also allows you to read the water level of your brewer and know when to refill the water.

As you are reading this, you probably get a feeling that bloomfield does not seems like a coffee machine that people would actively be looking for. And you are right with that thought!

It is not well advertised or marketed, so not many people knows about the bloomfield coffee maker, till now, I cannot really articulate a value of bloomfield, but I can tell you that one of the reason Mac Donald is using it is mainly because of its durability.

So, if you are looking for something that can last, bloomfield might be a good choice!

Cooking Tips For Easy Dutch Oven Recipes

Saturday 15 November 2008

There are many individuals that are looking for tips to help them get started with some easy dutch oven recipes. Dutch ovens are an old and reliable method for cooking, and are regaining in popularity. Unfortunately, not many know how to use them, so the following are some tips to help you cook with your dutch oven.

Remember that you can always look inside the oven to see how things are looking. Do not be afraid to pop the top. Usually this will not spoil the food. We aren’t dealing with a ‘pressure cooker’ here! Just remember not to do so too frequently as you will be releasing a lot of heat that is necessary for the food to cook properly.

Usually, steam escaping out from under the lid will imply that the heat is too much. Either reduce the heat or remove the pot until the coals have reduced some. Remember that heat regulation is often key with dutch oven recipes.

Try to turn the dutch oven about every 15 minutes. This will usually help reduce the browning of the foot in central areas and/or overcooking certain areas while undercooking other.

When you do rotate the dutch oven, turn it about 90 degrees. Try to stay rotating clockwise so that you do not accidentally rotate clockwise once, then counterclockwise the next. Effectively negating the rotation.

Always use caution when handling the dutch oven. Use mits or a thick towel to touch the pot as it can often hold heat for long periods of time and no one wants to burn themselves now do they?

Slightly more advance dutch oven cooking tips can involve using the briquettes properly. Adding, removing, or moving them usually be a way to adjust and/or monitor heat levels in the oven. This was the effective method when dutch ovens were frequently used, and we should learn the same if we want to be excellent campfire chefs!

When you become more comfortable cooking with dutch ovens, you can learn to stack and/or shuffle multiple ovens. This can be a bit advanced so keep it for later if you are new. But this ability will greatly increase food variety and decrease time spent cooking.

If you really want to become proficient at cooking easy dutch oven recipes, then you should take the time to watch how ‘old timers’ cook with dutch ovens, and take the time to learn from good old fasioned experience. The best way to learn is to do, and this is definitely true when it comes to easy dutch oven recipes

The original Irish Coffee.

Monday 10 November 2008

The original  Irish Coffee Recipe.

Irish coffee is probably one of the most famous of all Irish recipes.

Irish Coffee Recipes arose in 1942, when the chef of the restaurant at Foynes Airport in County Limerick, Chef Joe Sheridan, served up the first Irish Coffee to some passengers.

Foynes at that time was a very active flying boat airport between Europe and North America.

On one exceptional night a flight that had departed for New York via Newfoundland had to return to Foynes due to bad weather.
Recognising that the passengers would be cold and miserable the chef dreamt up this recipe for the passengers and of course called it Irish Coffee.

This whiskey based coffee went on to become world famous.

As a matter of fact there is now an Irish Coffee Festival in the birthplace of this famous drink, Foynes, County Limerick.

It is important to emphasise here that this Irish Coffee Recipe is nothing like a Baileys Irish Cream Coffee or an Irish Mist Coffee.
This is the first Irish Coffee.

Now for the best part, the Irish coffee recipe

In a pre-warmed, stemmed glass, place two teaspoons of brown sugarand 2 full lids full of Powers Gold Label Irish Whiskey.

Fill the glass to within 1cm or .5 of an inch with really hot strong Bewleys black coffee. Stir well to dissolve all the sugar then add lightly whipped irish cream so that it floats gently at the top of the glass.

DO NOT STIR AGAIN, but sip the coffee through the cream.

There you have it,the story of the original Irish coffee recipe, how to make Irish coffee and like most beautiful thing it’s beauty lies in it’s simplicity.
Irish Coffee Recipes are a little hard to define as strictly speaking Irish Coffee is a drink and using coffee, whiskey and cream does not necessarily make it Irish coffee. Just a thought, nonetheless try these out. Why not check out more authentic, traditional Irish recipes.
